Buying Books on the Internet
THE INTERNET IS PERFECT for finding those regional and rare books your local bookseller won't stock. Being remote from any major bookstores, we buy many of our own books on the Internet. Amazon was the only major bookseller on the Internet when we opened this site, and we have long been an Amazon.com associate. Now Amazon has been joined by a host of others.
For children's books, we especially like Cherry Valley Books, and recently became a Cherry Valley Books partner site. They operate a thoughtful and thorough service, with a strong Northern interest. They don't carry every book, but every book they do carry has been read and reviewed. We think of Cherry Valley as the Chinaberry of the Internet.
If you decide to buy books on-line, use a secure browser or phone in your credit card number. On-line bookstores usually offer 10-35 percent off list prices. After you pay $3.00-$5.00 in shipping, your savings on a one-book order is not large. But for multiple book orders, on-line stores offer real value. And of course, on-line bookstores are very convenient and have everything you might want. If you have a favorite on-line bookstore, let us know.
Below are messages from our partners, and links to information on their sites.
Cherry Valley Books is pleased to offer our books for sale through the Go Home, River site. We handle the shipping and customer service, while Jim Magdanz picks out books that he thinks you'll enjoy. All orders are placed securely and backed by our 100% satisfaction, money-back guarantee.
Our Alaska book selection is very rich, as Cherry Valley Books was founded and is run by a certified Alaska-holic. We also offer an official Iditarod curriculum guide. The Iditarod is an annual dog-sled race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. The history and running of the race are fascinating to children, and following the race makes a terrific classroom activity.
